Field Service

Combined, our Service Team has over 200 years of experience to serve your needs.  We are also supported by our Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Staff.

Repairs

We provide repair service to not only Automatic Feed equipment but we will use our resources to address and fix other manufactures’ equipment that may no longer be in business.  We are able to reverse engineer/modify equipment as needed to optimize the performance of your line.

Leveling

We provide expert service that will inspect and calibrate your levelers/straighteners which are the heartbeat of a coil processing line.

Hydraulics / Pneumatics / Lubrication

We troubleshoot and repair existing and potential issues.

Electrical

We troubleshoot drives and other electrical components, optimization lines through programming and control upgrades and preform Safety upgrades and evaluations.

Remote Diagnostics & Support

We evaluate your line as it is running to see what the issues are so we can determine the best course of action to help.

Preventive Maintenance

We provide several options to assist with your current preventive maintenance programs that will build on your efforts and provide a detailed report on our findings that may prevent costly downtime for unforeseen repairs.

Thermal Imaging

The AFCO service department has several on-staff service technicians and engineers who are Level One Certified in Thermal Imaging Technology, which produces images of the infrared energy being emitted from equipment components.

Repairs

We provide repair service to not only Automatic Feed equipment but we will use our resources to address and fix other manufactures’ equipment that may no longer be in business. We are able to reverse engineer/modify equipment as needed to optimize the performance of your line.

Preventive Maintenance

We provide several options to assist with your current preventive maintenance programs that will build on your efforts and provide a detailed report on our findings that may prevent costly downtime for unforeseen repairs.

  • General: mechanical and electrical overview of the line and stacker
  • Calibration: mechanical and electrical calibration evaluations
  • Grease: checking pressure, solenoids, spools, grease lines, and blockages
  • Oscillating Die: evaluate blades, clearances, galling, lubrication points, air/hydraulic leaks

Leveling

One of the most critical operations in coil processing lines is leveling. AFCO’s Service team will keep your leveler running smoothly and efficiently with minimal down time. We provide expert service that will inspect and calibrate your levelers or straighteners which are the heartbeat of a coil processing line.

As materials evolve to meet the demand for lighter, more durable products, the emerging metals are becoming stronger and thinner. AFCO’s new generation of levelers is designed to process steel, aluminum and AHSS. This new generation of cassette levelers is capable of interchanging work roll cartridges with other cartridges of different work roll diameters.

Each cassette is designed with a work roll diameter to process specific material properties. This results in increased capacity for a single machine.

Hydraulic / Pneumatic / Lubrication

The AFCO Service team will troubleshoot and repair existing and potential issues surrounding your coil line hydraulic, pneumatic or lubrication system.

Electrical

Our Electrical Engineers along with Service Technicians will keep your electrical systems up and running while providing the newest technologies that best meet customer needs. We offer:

  • Troubleshooting for drives and other electrical components.
  • Line optimization through programming and control upgrades.
  • Safety upgrades and evaluations.

Remote Diagnostics & Support

Through remote diagnostics and support, the AFCO Service Team can evaluate your coil processing line during actual line run and determine what potential problems need to be addressed. They can determine your best course of action and offer the necessary support to complete the needed tasks to keep your line running smoothly with minimal down time.

Thermal Imaging

The AFCO service department has several on-staff service technicians and engineers who are Level One Certified in Thermal Imaging Technology, which produces images of the infrared energy being emitted from equipment components. This can detect properly energized areas as well as hot spots – areas indicating overly-high temperatures.

An elevated temperature can indicate an internal defect, an airflow blockage, faulty coolant flow, coolant leakage or overheated water/coolant, as well as under-performing or incorrectly performing components. This capability makes thermal imaging an effective tool for preventive maintenance, helping to avoid equipment failures, extensive downtime and the associated costs.

Training

We provide training for:

  • Mechanical: Classroom training covers all mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic adjustments for the line. It also covers all hydraulic and pneumatic components and their locations. Review of preventive maintenance and cover parts list drawings for the line.
  • Operator: Classroom training gives a general overview of the press line, operator safety, explains operator screens, manual and auto machine operations, adjustments related to the operator, and routine operator messages.
  • Electrical: Classroom training with manuals covers general maintenance safety, communication flowcharts, prints and ladder logic diagrams. Floor training on referencing components to the home page.
  • Hands On: Training on the line to make sure your employees are knowledgeable on being able to handle issues that may arise, and explain operator screens.
  • Leveler: We explain the leveler/straightener and its purpose, teach you the theory of leveling, explain suggested settings, identify common material defects, discuss machine adjustments to compensate for material defects, teach you how to integrate your leveler/straightener into your coil line, and explain the effect high strength steels have on leveler settings.

We will work with you to determine which training, how much training your employees’ need, which shifts, numbers of hours, and number of days.

Parts

We are your resource for not only Automatic Feed specialty parts but also provide an avenue for supplier parts.  By doing so we have the ability to package them together to provide an installation kit to you that gives you the confidence to have all the crucial parts to complete the job in a timely fashion.

We also maintain all information including prints for all projects going back to our earliest equipment that assures you that you will be getting the right parts for whatever Automatic Feed Line you may be working on.
