Leveler cassette technologies

One of the most critical operations in a blanking line is leveling. Materials continue to change to accommodate increases in strength with thinner materials to make products stronger and lighter while the surface quality must be maintained as your process today’s coil product. New technologies in this area include cassette levelers with removable roll modules. Each cassette can handle a different roll diameter or backup arrangement to meet the changing material properties thus allowing increased capacity on a single machine.

Additionally, cassette levelers allow offline cleaning and maintenance. The line can continue to run while one cassette is being serviced, reducing downtime. With the optional spline design connections and the optional hydraulic clamping, cassette changeovers can take less than two minutes and be accomplished without tools.

Automatic Feed’s new cassette leveler can extend the minimum and maximum thickness capacity of a single roller leveler by employing multiple interchangeable work roll cassettes. Each cassette offers a different roll diameter and spacing sized for a different thickness range of material. Features include:

• Changeable roll center distances within the same drive size and gearbox configuration
• Rolls open 200mm in 40 seconds for on-the-spot cleaning
• 4-5-6 high configuration
• 50, 57.5, 65 & 75 mm roll diameters available

• Optional automatic oil and grease lubrication system
• Optional spray wash system within the leveler and leveler cassette.
• Intermediate rolls float to allow for grinding the roll under size for lower roll replacement cost
• Leveler rolls & pinch rolls have separate drives & gearboxes to allow work rolls or pinch rolls to be ground under size for lower roll replacement cost
• All rolls made out of bearing quality 52100 with a polished chrome finish
